Modern Elegance with a Designers Touch
Creating a kitchen can be a daunting task. Bringing in a designer can help you sort thru all the options, colors, finishes, storage needs etc.. It can all be overwhelming and take the fun out of the design process.
We worked with Astrid Newton Rush Interiors on this kitchen design. The client origiinally planed to keep the exsisting kitchen. However once they started to purchase all new furnishings it became evident they needed to update the kitchen. She kept the clients needs in the forefront of all her design decisions. The owners looked to her to assist them in keeping consistency in all the rooms of their home and creating a beautiful focal point in the main kitchen.
The cabinets chosen were from our Masterpiece line. The Epic door style for modern elegance in cherry with a sophisicated molasses glaze. The high gloss island provided the contrasting element in this kitchen. The counter tops Statuario quartz in 3cm and incorporated waterfall edges. The handles are a simple linear design and are mounted in a horizontal pattern to accentuate the clean lines of the doors.
Fournier Custom Designs worked with the owners and Astrid to incorporate cabinetry solutions to enhance the functionallity of the kitchen. The lady of the house does all the cooking and baking for the family and has four children to take care of. Her plate is full on a daily basis and we wanted to design a kitchen to alleviate any additonal stress she may have in the kitchen. The kitchen design kept all her needs in mind.
We included a mixer cabinet that lifts her heavy Kitchen Aid mixer to counter level with a locking mechanism incorporated into the shelf. The cord is plugged into the interior of this cabinet to make it a breeze to use. A pull out pantry next to the mixer allows for all the baking items to be easily reached.
The base cabinetry in the peninsula incorporates the double trash recycle center. It is one of two trash areas in the kitchen. The second trash is in the island facing the double wall oven. A chemical organizer and stainless steel tip out tray are featured in the sink cabinet. And finally a bi-level organization drawer next to the sink gives you two levels of organization in one drawer!
This kitchen is tall with 48" upper cabinets, however all this additional storage would be usless if you can not easily access it! We incorporated a custom step stool cabinet into the base cabinet by the microwave. The stool hides in the cabinet and keeps the look consistant and the stool is ready for use.
The big pull out pantry allows easy access for all your storage needs on a daily basis. Conveniently located next to the end of the island and stoves. The look of the kitchen is preserved and the functionality is enhanced!
The upper cabinets to the right of the cook top have door mounted spice racks on each door provide ease of access while using the stove top. The big drawer bases on either side of the cook top create ample storage for pots and pans.
Each base corner cabinet has an ingenious system that allows full access to the blind corners. Offering a pull out that gives you access with out having to reach into the deep cabinet.
Both of the sinks are lined up directly opposite of each other when looking at the kitchen from the living area. Creating a symetry to the aesthetic of the kitchen design.
Using a designer really brought this kitchen together. Our next blog will be an interview with Astrid Newton Rush where she will explain her process and what to look for when hiring a designer.
Enjoy your space!
